how it all started

My photography journey began with the birth of my daughter, Mila. After graduating from Portland State with a degree in Graphic Design, my husband and I welcomed her into our lives. I bought a camera to capture her growth, sharing these moments with family and friends online. During that time, I absolutely fell in love with making photographs. I set up little sets and started putting together themed shoots every month with my daughter. Soon after, people started asking if I could photograph their babies and  families, and SK Photography was born!

Shortly after starting to photograph families, I had a high school friend reach out and ask if I would be willing to shoot her wedding! I’ll never forget shooting that first wedding 13 years ago—it was nerve-wracking but exhilarating. From that moment, I was hooked. I knew this was my calling. Weddings are magical, and capturing the love between two people is something I cherish deeply. I cry at every wedding and hope I always do. My goal is to capture your moments with the same care and emotion I’d want for my own family, creating memories you can hold onto for generations.
